A purpose built £5 million exhibition facility to support the NRM York
A new £5.5million Northern Headquarters building over 3 floors, bringing together multiple remote and local sites into a purpose designed building incorporating the latest in communication and media transfer technology. The ventilation proposals were developed utilising passive natural ventilation induced across the floor plates from north to south by internal chimneys generating stack effect. The building was constructed in two phases to accommodate phased decanting of adjacent buildings. The overall Building Services value is £1.85m and included flood wiring of CAT5(e) cabling system to handle all voice and data requirements.
This £30 million state of the art Exhibition and Education Centre became Manchesters Millennium Project and opened to the public in June 2002. The design of “Urbis” had to take into account a wide variety of environmental issues with regard to energy efficiency, sustainability and flexibility of proposals and incorporates an active faÇade\buffer zone around the building which acts as a thermal barrier. It is a unique fully glazed wedge shaped building incorporating an internal “Funicular Lift” to the four internal exhibition floors and the high quality “Le Mont” Restaurant located on Levels 5 and 6.
Project consisted of 2 No. £10 million Theatres. As a practice, we were responsible for converting the initial concept design into detail. Our role included working closely with specialist acoustician and services included full air conditioning, heating, lighting, stage lighting and general auditorium building services.
An £8 million project incorporating the extension of the Weston Building Hotel and Conference Centre
